Why did you choose aged?
I wanted to share the amazing things that are happening within agriculture and open people eyes and minds to the vast array of opportunities available in agriculture. I also wanted to be an FFA advisor and help students reach for their potential. Both of these ideas made me choose AgEd as a major and career.
What is your favorite CDE?
My favorite CDEs have always been Soils Evaluation, Parliamentary Procedure, and the Leadership CDEs.
Do you like taking students on field trips?
Field trips are great. Getting to go outside of the school walls and see agriculture in action is one of my favorite activities and really helps make a connection between the content and real life for the students.
What experiences have you had that a new teacher should hear about?
Not sure I can pinpoint any specific experience, but would just share that in this profession you have to keep an open mind. You never know what opportunity is going to come up, what trip, what problem, what random thing a student is going to say or do. You just have to roll with it all and take advantage of all the things that being an Agriculture Educator and FFA Advisor bring. Everything might not always go as planned or be easy/pretty, but it usually is always a learning experience and great.
