Mrs. Jeanna Eppley
Seymour High School
District XI (11) in Jackson County
How long have you been teaching?
This school year is my ninth year; I do not feel as though I have been teaching that long at all.
What made you want to become an Ag Teacher?
I knew I wanted a career in Agriculture and while looking through the majors I decided to give AgEd a chance because my high school Agriculture teacher, Mr. Blake Hackman, always has a great time and loves his job.
What has been the highlight of your career as an Ag Teacher?
Picking one highlight is difficult, there are so many joys in high school Ag and FFA. I am honored to have several past and present students "tagged" to teach ag and a couple already in the field. I truly feel that is one of my "warm fuzzy" highlights.
What would be some advice you would give to a new teacher?
Build a relationship with veteran teachers around you, ask questions, ask for support, ask for anything you need those first few years. The first two years (as a new teacher or in a new school) are always the tough years. Hang in there, don't give up, and again, find help from those around you.
If you weren't teaching, what other job do you think you would be doing?
I can't even imagine not teaching... nope don't want to think about that.
