Where are you student teaching?
Manchester Jr./Sr. High School - North Manchester, IN
What is your favorite part about student teaching thus far?
My favorite part of student teaching has been getting to know the students and especially FFA members. They have welcomed me with open arms and made the transition to the classroom much easier!
Why did you choose Ag Ed?
I chose Ag Ed because of my positive experiences with agriculture classes and FFA and my passion for helping others learn about agriculture. The Ag Ed degree allowed me to take classes in a variety of areas within agriculture which I really enjoyed.
What advice could you give current AgEd students about classes and student teaching? If I had just one piece of advice for current students, I would tell them to think about how they would teach others what they are learning. While in college, I was always focused on what I was learning and how to study to get the grades I wanted. That is important but I wish I would have thought about how I would simplify and teach someone else the information I was learning. It would have been much easier to do while I was in those classes rather than years later. As far as student teaching, just start creating your own organized database of documents and worksheets, labs, and information. It will be much easier to pull from those things; the sooner you start the better! Oh and enjoy every bit of the time you get to spend with your friends, it will be gone before you know it!
